The Prince and Princess of Wales have begun their Christmas festivities, heralding the start of a joyous festive season filled with family moments and royal traditions.

Leaving their home in Windsor, Prince William and Duchess Kate have arrived at their beautiful Georgian home, Anmer Hall, with their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Lambrook School, where they attend, officially began its school holidays on 13 December, with classes scheduled to resume on 8 January 2025, giving the young royals plenty of time to enjoy their holidays. The family are currently staying at their beautiful ten-bedroom home, Anmer Hall, on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

The sight of the royal family heading off for their Christmas break has excited royal fans, who are eager to catch a glimpse of their traditions and treasured moments during this time. Anmer Hall serves as a private retreat for the family, allowing them to relax and connect away from the public eye. The historic home was a wedding gift from the late Queen Elizabeth II and is filled with memories, making it the perfect location for a traditional British Christmas.

With Lambrook School on break for three weeks, the Welsh family are likely to spend their time taking in the countryside, cosying up by the fire and preparing for bigger royal celebrations at Sandringham House. This year’s Christmas is particularly meaningful after what Prince William has called a “tough year”, referring to Catherine’s hardships. Since her return, Catherine is embracing the festive season as a time of gratitude and recovery. Despite her challenges, she has continued to fulfil her royal duties, recently hosting the 'Together at Christmas' service at Westminster Abbey.

The event highlighted community heroes and was attended by members of the royal family, with George, Charlotte and Louis proudly supporting their mother. Their stay at Anmer Hall is just the start of their Christmas celebrations. They are expected to join King Charles III, Queen Camilla and other royals at Sandringham House, following a long-standing family tradition. Christmas Day is likely to include a church service at St Mary Magdalene Church, where they are often greeted warmly by crowds before returning for a festive lunch and gift exchange.

Earlier this week, during a visit to Wiltshire, Prince William shared insights into his holiday plans, noting that Sandringham would host a special gathering of 45 family members, highlighting the value of togetherness during the season. For the Welsh family, Christmas at Anmer Hall is not just about royal duties, but also about enjoying simple pleasures and cherished traditions, such as decorating the tree and baking cookies with their children.
