Every car enthusiast holds an affinity for a particular generation of the Porsche 911. For some, the lightweight and lively early models capture their hearts, while others pursue the pinnacle of performance and comfort found in the latest models fresh off the production line. Yet, for many enthusiasts, the ultimate generation is the 993.
The 993 marks the culmination of the air-cooled 911 era and seamlessly blends the desirable traits sought in a vintage 911 with the modern performance, reliability, and comfort standards we've grown accustomed to. This is elegantly packaged within a design that pays homage to classic 911 aesthetics while embracing contemporary elements, bridging the gap between the air-cooled generation and the impending water-cooled models.
This 1996 Porsche 911 Cabriolet is a special example painted in the beautiful color Speed Yellow - one of the most beautiful colors on this generation of 911s. This 993 is in exceptional condition and has a few unique “Z”s. -Code” Special Wish option.
The striking Speed Yellow paint is combined with a black fabric soft top and black-finished Carrera lettering along the rear trunk lid and power-opening rear spoiler. The 17" Cup wheels are fitted with Porsche Crest rim covers and wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires.
On the inside, black leather covers the seats and door cards, and both front seats are equipped with full power adjustment. What separates this 993 from other Carrera Cabriolets is the stunning Special Wishes options on the interior. To match the striking Speed Yellow on the exterior, the original owner specified Speed Yellow leather accents on the handbrake, shifter, and shift boot and the leather-wrapped gauge surrounds. Additionally, Speed Yellow seatbelts were optioned from the factory. These combine to make a particularly special feeling interior and likely a one-of-a-kind specification.
Powering the 993 Carrera is a 3.6-liter M64 Flat-6 engine that produces 272 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque and loves to pull hard all the way to the 7,000 rpm redline. 1996 was the first year of the VarioRam system on the 993, which features variable length intake runners and is designed to optimize both low-down torque and high RPM power.
The implementation of this system resulted in an increase of 14 horsepower and 10 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed manual Getrag gearbox with Porsche’s famous floor-hinged pedals. The 993 is the perfect sports car for enthusiasts looking for a classic driving experience paired with modern performance and reliability. This Carrera Cabriolet, in its appealing color combination and numerous Special Wishes options, will stand out in the sea of grey and black 911s and will be a great conversation piece at any PCA event.
