Stray Cat ‘Asks’ To Be Let Inside So She Can Give Birth To Her Kittens.
Asking for help can be scary, but as a mother, there’s nothing you wouldn’t do to keep your babies safe. That’s something this stray kitty realized after getting pregnant and getting ready to give birth. The black cat had been living as a stray for a long time, but when she was about to become a mother, she knew that she didn’t want her kittens to grow up on the streets.
About a year ago, a stray cat started hanging around Ida Floreak’s house. Floreak had a kitty of her own, and she soon realized that it was her kitty that was drawing the stray to her backyard. The black stray, who Floreak nicknamed Salami, was visibly enamoured by Floreak’s kitty.
And Salami didn’t seem to care that the house cat clearly wasn’t as interested in her as she was in him – she just kept coming back to the yard to say hi anyway. When Floreak began putting out food for Salami, the sweet stray started visiting the house every day. Each morning she would announce her presence by meowing outside the door and happily accept the day’s meal.
After some time, Floreak noticed that Salami was starting to get rounder. And it wasn’t just a result of the free food she was receiving – Salami was clearly pregnant. Ever since Salmi started hanging around the backyard, Floreak had tried to win the cat’s trust and attempted to get close enough to the skittish cat to catch her and bring her to the vet.
She wanted to get Salami spayed and vaccinated, but though Salami appreciated all the free food she was getting, she still kept her distance and would not let Floreak get close enough to grab her.
But the pregnancy seemed to cause a shift in Salami’s and Floreak’s relationship. Salami slowly grew more comfortable around Floreak and started spending even more time around the house.
Then, when Salami sensed that she was about to go into labour, the little cat realized that there was only one place she wanted to go. Only one place where she felt safe. Only one place where she knew that her kittens would be safe.
And so, one morning, Floreak was awoken at 5 AM by Salami’s insistent meows. “I let her in and she started to have her babies around 8 or 9 in the morning. I was surprised because I kind of figured when she had them I wouldn’t see her for a couple of weeks,” Floreak told The Dodo.
Just a couple hours after being let into the house, Salami went into labour and gave birth to four beautiful kittens. Floreak is deeply impressed by the little mama cat. Not only was she calm and confident during the birth, but she’s been an incredibly doting and affectionate mother.
Now, the kittens are growing, thriving, and turning into beautiful little cats. They’re growing up under the loving care of Floreak and Salami, and have everything they need to grow up safe, happy, and healthy.
Floreak has found forever families for all four kittens, and when they’re old enough, they’ll move in with their new families and start the next exciting chapter of their little lives.
As for Salami, she’s already exactly where she needs to be. Floreak is her mommy, now and forever, and she’ll never have to worry about anything ever again. This sweet story has touched many people and brought some extra light into the world.
